GENERAL SUPPLIES PROVIDED BY SEW HAPPY:

  • Sharp scissors

  • 2 Needles #6

  • 1 Embroidery Needle 

  • 3 Needle threaders

  • Pincushion

  • 20 Pins

  • 2 Spools of thread

  • Seam Ripper

  • Thimble

  • Measuring Tape

  • Masking Tape

  • Frixion Marker

  • Garbage Bags (1 black, 1 purple)

  • 8 Yards Pink Tulle

  • White T-shirt

  • Navy T-shirt

  • Pink T-shirt

SUPPLIES PROVIDED BY CAMPER:

  • Full size mannequin

  • Markers

  • Sharpies

  • Fabric Markers

 

Schedule

9.45am BE READY

  • Be ready for start of camp

  • Enter Zoom meeting

  • Be wearing your headset and test the microphone

  • Have participants/campers on mute

  • Have samples ready to show during Meet 'n' Greet

  • Have materials ready for demonstration if needed

  • Have water close by

  • Have camper info in case you need to contact a parent by phone

 

 

10am MEET 'n' GREET (20 Mins)

  1. Greet campers whilst waiting for everyone to join.

  2. Have campers start on their Welcome Activity: Coloring Sheet

  3. Mute ALL campers then unmute each camper one at a time as you go around the "room" and ask everyone to say their name and an interesting fact you (the instructor) choose.

SUGGESTION: Your name and favorite activity this week

NOTE: Try to get the kids interacting during this time

10.20am GOALS (10 Mins)

  • With campers muted:

    • Introduce camp projects

      • Show samples of each item​

      • Explain goals for the week

      • and goals for today

    • CAMP GUIDELINES

10.30am DESIGN A MASK COLLECTION (30 Mins)

Supplies needed: Bag labelled "Mask Design"

Pencil, markers, colored pencils or sharpies

11am 15 MINUTE BREAK (Use this time to help anyone catch up)

11.15am MAKE MASK (45 Mins)

  • Supplies needed: T-shirt (whichever is left), scissors, bag labelled "Mask Activity"

  • NOTE: Explain to the campers that there are many ways to make a face mask. This is just one way. We do not guarantee that these masks will provide protection against coronavirus.

 

  • VIDEO Cut Mask

  • VIDEO Make Ties

 

  • VIDEO Assemble Mask

 

 

 

 

If campers finish early they can color one of the coloring sheets.

12PM LUNCH BREAK

 

1pm COMPLETE PROJECTS (50 Mins)

If all projects are complete, make hair tie

1.50pm 15 MINUTE BREAK (use this time to help anyone if needed)

2.05pm FASHION CHALLENGE (30 Mins)

  • Campers should take turns showing off their creations in a virtual fashion show using their mannequins. They should put together an outfit using the projects they made this week and talk everyone through their items.

  • Campers who finish early should work on coloring sheet

 

2.35pm WIND DOWN (25 Mins)

  • Clean up

  • Show 'n' tell 

  • If time - campers share "what I liked about camp today..."

3pm END OF DAY

  • End Zoom meeting - do not leave open

  • Make sure you are prepared for tomorrow

      Goals for today

  • To design a mask collection

  • To make a mask from a t-shirt

  • To complete all projects

  • If finished to make a hair tie

      Goals for the week

  • To learn how to hand sew

  • To re-purpose t-shirts in to a top, bag, skirt, fashion mask, and accessories

  • To learn about fashion design

  • To have fun and to make new "virtual" friends
