Prepare For Class

  • Enter Zoom meeting

  • Check in with Sew Happy Supervisor

  • Be wearing your headset (if using) 

  • Test the microphone

  • Have students on mute

  • Have chat set so that students can only chat to Sew Happy host and not other students

  • Have Sew Happy virtual background on

  • Have samples ready to show

  • Have materials ready for demonstration

  • Have water close by

  • Have student info in case you need to contact a parent by phone

  • Admit students

  • Greet students whilst waiting for everyone to join

  • Students should be MUTED

With students MUTED:

  • Introduce projects and show samples of each item​ (either actual or photos)

CLASS RULES & GUIDELINES

  • Ensure that a parent/adult is within hearing distance in case you need some hands-on help.

  • Leave video turned "on".

  • If you need help ask us in the chat and somebody will get back to you, we have to keep going in order to get through the class.

  • Don't worry if you don't keep up today, you can watch the videos in your own time and catch up by next week!

NOTE TO INSTRUCTOR

  • If a student "raises their virtual hand"  or asks a question in the chat - let Val answer them

  • Advise students that videos are available for them after the class so they can catch up

STITCH OUTER BASKET

Video is for inner basket but it's the same for outer basket.

 

Note To Instructor:

 

Students will be continuing to stitch outer basket at Class 8. If students are looking for extra work they can sew on the "made-by" label - either fold it in half and insert in one of the outer basket edges or sew it to the bottom of the outer basket.

  • Clean up - ask students to:

    • make sure all the pins and needles are either in the pincushion or in a safe place

    • put all of the materials and supplies back in the box and keep in a safe place until the next class​

    • clean up their work area

  • IF TIME ONLY - Students share "what I liked about class today..."
