9.45am BE READY

​

  • Be ready for start of camp

  • Enter Zoom meeting

  • Be wearing your headset and test the microphone

  • Have participants/campers on mute

  • Have samples ready to show during Meet 'n' Greet

  • Have materials ready for demonstration if needed

  • Have water close by

  • Have camper info in case you need to contact a parent by phone

10am MEET 'n' GREET (20 Mins)

​

  1. Greet campers whilst waiting for everyone to join.

  2. Have campers start on their Welcome Activity: Start filling out the "About Me" Dice.

  3. Introduce yourself and tell the campers a little bit about you including your sewing experience.

  4. Mute ALL campers then unmute each camper one at a time as you go around the "room" and ask everyone to say their name and an interesting fact you (the instructor) choose.

SUGGESTION: Your name and favorite TV show

​

NOTE: If you can get the kids interacting at this point, great but you can do that tomorrow after everyone gets more comfortable.

11.15am CUT JEANS (45 Mins)

​

  • Supplies needed: jeans, scissors, masking tape, measuring tape

  • VIDEO Mark Shorts With Masking Tape

  • Using measuring tape measure and masking tape -

  • Measure 4" down from crotch seam and make a cutting line on one leg with masking tape.

​

  • Fold jeans in half and mark other leg with masking tape. Cut.

  • Take one of the legs and measure 11" up from the hem. Use masking tape to make a cutting line. Cut.

1pm SEWING BASICS (50 Mins)

Supplies needed: pincushion, needle threader, scissors, needle and thread. IMPORTANT: Make sure the camper is using the #6 needle which is in the same bag as the pincushion. (The chenille needle and embroidery floss are to use for decorative stitches later in the week).

Fashion Challenge:

Use draping technique with tulle and pins to create a party dress for a special occasion. Do not cut the tulle.
