  • 3 Needles

  • 3 Needle threaders

  • Pincushion

  • 6 Pins

  • 4 Spools of thread

  • Seam ripper

  • Thimble

  • 6" Ruler

  • Project Bags

CAMPERS HAVE BEEN ASKED TO SUPPLY:

  • Markers or colored pencils for coloring

  • Sharpies

  • Fabric Markers (optional)

PROJECTS INCLUDE:

  • Aloha Pillow

  • Mini Beach Bunting

  • Wave Keychain

  • Surfboard Necklace

  • Shell Tie-dye

  • Popsicle Watercolor

  • Friendship Bracelets

 

Schedule

9.45am BE READY

  • Be ready for start of camp

  • Enter Zoom meeting

  • Have participants/campers on mute

  • Have samples ready

  • Have materials ready for demonstration

  • Have water close by

  • Have camper info in case you need to contact a parent by phone

10am MEET 'n' GREET

  1. Greet campers whilst waiting for everyone to join.

  2. Have campers start on their welcome activity (either continue with surf board activity or coloring sheet, or WORDSEARCH -Wordsearch is in box loose)

  3. If you can encourage interaction here between students please do. Ask campers a fun fact about themselves or ask one camper to ask another camper a fun fact about themselves.

10.20am WELCOME

  • With campers muted

10.30am SEWING ACTIVITY

  • Review needle threading, knot and lock stitch

  • VIDEO "Stitch around pillow"

  • Campers: Stitch around pillow​

  • Campers finished early: embellish pillow or use second pocket and bandaid to free sew

11am 15 MINUTE BREAK (Use this time to help anyone catch up)

11.15am SEWING ACTIVITY

  • VIDEO "Stuff pillow and stitch opening closed"

  • Campers: Stuff pillow and stitch opening closed

  • Campers finished early: insert "made-by" label, embellish pillow or use second pocket and bandaid to free sew

  • Tell campers that after lunch - Campers need a small container of water for painting activity

12PM LUNCH BREAK

 

1pm ART ACTIVITY - SHELL TIE DYE

(Campers need a small container of water and a paper towel - the shells are wrapped in a paper towel, they can use that))

  • Campers need to open bag labelled "Shell Tie Dye"

  • Includes: 2 shells (wrapped in a paper towel - they should use the paper towel as a protector for the table), a small bottle of rubbing alcohol, a q-tip. Tell the they can also use the brush from the watercolor set - just make sure it's clean and dry.

 

  • VIDEO "Shell Tie Dye"

  • Campers who finish early can color on coloring sheet

1.45pm 15 MINUTE BREAK (use this time to help anyone if needed)

 

2pm SEWING ACTIVITY

  • Supplies needed: Bag labelled "Beach Bunting"

  • VIDEO: How To Cut Bunting

  • Campers: Cut Bunting

  • Campers who finish early should work on coloring sheet

2.35pm WIND DOWN

  • Clean up

  • Prepare for tomorrow

  • Show 'n' tell (plan what campers bring for show 'n' tell tomorrow)

  • Campers share "what I liked about camp today..."

3pm END OF DAY

  • End Zoom meeting for all

  • Prepare for tomorrow

      Goals for today

  • To complete pillow

  • To make tie-dye shell art

  • To cut bunting for tomorrow

      Goals for the week

  • To learn how to sew

  • To make a bookmark, pillow, bunting, and keychain

  • To have fun and to make new "virtual" friends
