SEWING MACHINE SCHOOLS
Beginners will start by sewing a basic pouch, then they will progress to learn various sewing skills and techniques to create a personality pillow. The students will also get time to work on their "Free Sew" project where they get creative with fabrics, design and techniques!
Students who have already completed a Sew Happy Sewing Machine School Program will be making fleece pajama pants, an eye mask and a bag.
Course will cover:
Project construction (a good example of STEM as students learn how to make individual pieces before assembling final project)
Use of paper patterns (how to place patterns on fabric, pattern markings, grain of fabric)
Understanding the importance of fabric choice for each item
Garment fit (students learn how to stitch crotch seam and waistband.)
We love this project as it teaches so many concepts and is a wonderful way for students to begin to learn about garment construction.
In addition to this project we will have an introductory project the first week and a fun, seasonal project!
The project is our "Tote-ally Me" tote bag and students will also get time to work on their "Free Sew" project where they get creative with fabrics, design and techniques!
We provide sewing machines but if students wish to bring their own machine we suggest waiting until week 4.
