OUR PROGRAMS

 

Since 2011 we have been teaching sewing to kids and adults, in-person and more recently, virtually. 



Sewing is a wonderful activity for boys and girls, young and old and recently it has made a "comeback" along with other hand crafts like knitting and crocheting. Never has it been more important for kids to learn sewing and here's why:

1. It's a LIFESKILL

​
So many kids are pursuing higher education but are finding themselves without everyday skills like sewing, cooking, financial planning, changing a tire, doing the laundry etc. Being able to replace a button, sew up a seam or hem a pair of jeans is a basic skill everyone should be able to do.

​

2. It's RELAXING

​

These times are stressful for everyone including kids so sewing is an ideal hobby to embrace, especially for the winter months when everyone is spending a lot of time indoors. 

​

3. It improves SELF ESTEEM

​

There may be times when a child is not thriving in their environment may it be socially or academically, and finding something he or she is good at can really help a child to feel positive and good about him/herself.

​

4. It helps with HAND/EYE COORDINATION AND FINE MOTOR SKILLS

​

Cutting, pinning, measuring and stitching are all required to take a project from design to completion and all these techniques also require patience!

5. It's an alternative to SCREEN TIME!

​

Having a fun hobby like sewing encourages kids to use their hands and their BRAINS! The sewing machines we use are computerized so kids still feel like they are dabbling with technology. A win for kids AND parents!
