We are so proud of our group of busy bees, not only the machine and hand sewers but all the others who contributed by cutting, delivering, cooking, cleaning, homeschooling... It takes a village and ours is a great one! Your efforts have not only protected our medical professionals but it has boosted morale at home by giving many of us a positive focus which in turn trickles down to our children and helps keep life ticking along albeit in a strange way.
Update:
We started making mask covers to wear over existing N95 masks. These have been distributed to Montefiore, Mt. Sinai, Columbia NY Presbyterian, Lawrence, Brookdale, Westchester Medical Center, Open Door, HRH and White Plains Hospital. We have also provided to individuals including Dr. Ang in Rye so please let us know if someone you know needs some.
We are now also making masks from "sterilization wrap" which are designed to be worn alone. They are not meant to replace the N95 but will provide more protection than a cloth mask. These have been requested by Westchester Medical Center.
Our next step is to make cloth masks for our community to use. They will not protect against Covid19 but they will contain coughs and sneezes and prevent the wearer from touching his/her face.
