Summer Sewing "Selfie Time"

Schedule

8.45am BE READY

  • Be ready for start of camp

  • Enter Zoom meeting

  • Be wearing your headset and test the microphone

  • Have participants/campers on mute

  • Have samples ready to show during Meet 'n' Greet

  • Have materials ready for demonstration if needed

  • Have water close by

  • Have camper info in case you need to contact a parent by phone

9am MEET 'n' GREET

  1. Admit campers.

  2. Greet campers whilst waiting for everyone to join.

  3. Have campers start on the Welcome Activity - "Selfie Polaroids" Color one camera and cut out. Carefully cut the slit. Use the yarn in the bag with general supplies to make neck strap (poke holes in camera).

  4. This is the time we would like the campers to interact so keep them UNMUTED and ask them to tell an interesting fact you (the instructor) choose.

9.40am - 9.55am (15 Mins)

GOALS

  • With campers muted:

    • Introduce camp projects

      • Show samples of each item​

      • Explain goals for the week

      • and goals for today

9.55am - 10.45am (50 Minutes)

 

SEWING ACTIVITY

Supplies needed: pincushion, needle threader, scissors, needle and thread, 4 tote bag straps

  • VIDEO "Pin The Straps"

  • Campers: pin the straps​​

10.45am 15 MINUTE BREAK (Use this time to help anyone catch up)

11am

  • VIDEO "Pin & Stitch The Pocket Flap"

  • Campers: pin and stitch the pocket flap

MINI WIND DOWN TIME FOR AM CAMPERS

12PM LUNCH BREAK

 

1pm - 1.45pm ACTIVITY 

 

FELT HEART (PART OF DREAM CATCHER)

  • Campers need to open bag labelled "Dream Catcher 2"

  • VIDEO "Felt Heart"

  • Campers who finish early can make more felt shapes or color on coloring sheet.

1.45pm 10 MINUTE BREAK (use this time to help anyone if needed)

 

1.55pm - 2.15pm (20 Minutes)

  • EITHER

  • Continue with felt shapes, suggest adding embroidery stitches to embellish, etc

  • Work on bookmark 1 (whip stitch around sides)

  • Coloring

 

2.35pm WIND DOWN

  • Clean up

  • Prepare for tomorrow

  • Today's Show & Tell "Best Friend"

  • Show 'n' tell ( plan what campers bring for show 'n' tell tomorrow)

  • Campers share "what I liked about camp today..."

3pm END OF DAY

  • End zoom meeting for all - do not leave open

  • Make sure you are prepared for tomorrow

  • To sew a pocket and pocket flap on tote bag

  • To make stuffed hearts for the dream catcher*

      Goals for the week

  • To learn how to sew

  • To make a bookmark, tote bag, keychain and dream catcher*

  • To have fun and to make new "virtual" friends
